principles of design
Balance:the ways in which the elements (lines, shapes, colors, textures, etc.) of a piece are arranged
I chose this picture for balance because perfectly represents symmetry, the picture is focused directly in the middle of two walls of equal height. Along with two black strips on the ground.
Patterns:The repetition of an element (or elements) in a work.
Using this photo, Patterns are effectively represented by the chain links in the fence . The chain links produce a repetitive shape, also known as a pattern.
Proportion: A principle of art that describes the size, location or amount of one element to another (or to the whole) in a work.
This photo accurately depicts proportion by comparing the two tennis balls in size side by side.
Emphasis: Principle of art which occurs any time an element of a piece is given dominance by the artist.
By highlighting the color of the flower and making the rest of the picture black and white, this picture becomes a great example of emphasis because the photographer is drawing direct attention to the flower.
Unity: occurs when all of the elements of a piece combine to make a balanced, harmonious, complete whole.
The children jumping, the reflection of them in the puddle, the rays of sun hitting the water in the back ground. All of these things come together in this photo to create a sense of unity.
